M. Night Shyamalan's movie The Happening has a second restricted trailer:

There is a problem with red band trailers in general I think: they rarely match the expectations they create.

But in the case of the Happening I'm quite confident that this is no seller's speech. We will have a great movie for the bucks spent on the theater ticket of the Happening.

Heard that the next film Shyamalanis working on is a feature film based on Avatar the anime series broadcasted by teen channel Nickelodeon. Let's hope he won't make this one as scary as the Happening or kids won't be allowed to see it for sure!

An extended preview has just been released for The Happening upcoming mystery / sci fi movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Mark Wahlberg.

Here below the Happening extended preview:

Other would-be-serious movie sites are bashing Shyamalan's latest film (it's easy to criticize behind a computer screen, isn't it?...). But I think the director does not deserve it all: the Happening looks promising to my viewpoint. It's maybe a catatrosphe movie without explosive special effects, but that's not what Shyamalan is known for, what makes him a great director.

Shyamalan's force is to build a movie on a real plot. He also tries to make use of twists, but the revelation in itself does not have that much importance. So even if you read the spoilers of the Happening, it's still worth to watch the movie.

Indeed, actually with Shyamalan the journey is much more rewarding than the final destination.

And judging from this extended preview I would think we've got a vintage here: a movie that stands out by its quality, and makes it special.

I said about M. Night Shyamalan that he was the director of the Happening, but he is even more: not only producer but also the original scriptwriter of The happening. Mr. Shyamalan is a really gifted man. Lucky us he is still young: he'll have time to make other stunning movies like the Happening!

Looks like Hollywood's marketing aims at being glocal: there was the same effort of localisation for the international banners of I Am Legend last December.

Director M. Night Shyamalan who brought us 'The Sixth Sense' and 'Lady in the water' is back with a new movie: The Happening. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel.
The Happening will be released on Friday, June 13, 2008, deliberately planned to fall on Friday the 13th.

Here the plot:
The Happening is a paranormal thriller in which a family must survive a global environmental crisis. The film will portray the earth's vegetation unleashing airborne neurotoxins that cause all those who breathe it to commit violent suicide. The protagonist, a science teacher named Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg), goes on the run with his estranged wife (Zooey Deschanel) and friends as hysteria grips the planet.

How are they going to get out of this apocalyptic epidemic?

The Happening Screenplay

This morning I saw that someone added an anonymous comment on The Happening Trailer saying that he or she had found the screenplay online.

I was kind of teased so I made a search for this screenplay.

And indeed there is a file on the Internet that claims to be the screenplay of the Green Effect former name of The Happening.

I really don't know if it's a fake or not.
But well it's entertaining anyway.

Do you think that's an authentic script? I can't decide.

The document had been taken down on Scribd main site (but the screenplay leaked on the web months ago, and just by using google you may find plenty of sources) following a notice from the copyright holder: it means that the document is authentic!

The Happening is nothing new

The idea of rebellious plants is nothing new: M. Night Shyamalan did not create the wheel. ;-p.

Some of you may remember 'SPace: 1999', a science-fiction TV series from the 1970's featuring a Lunar base lost in space as the Moon left its orbit.

Well, in one episode,The Rules of Luton, it is question of a Great Vegetable Rebellion on planet which opposed plants versus animals.

Too bad for the animals, look what happened to them:

Maya: The plants killed the animals?
Koenig: Let's just say they eliminated their natural ennemy!
This was The Happening before The Happening!
And it just leaves me feeling uncomfortable(lol)!
